My thoughts
 
Lets keep any allowance of "hiking" out of the equation. Top straps are not ideal, but you can't hike off them easily.....so I guess that is good (ones that stand up is probably the best suggestion I have on this without moving them). Definate no on anything else that allows assisted hiking.
 
Spreader brakets, I agree with Stewart. We are on our 3rd set in 4 years !
Rudder fittings, I agree with Stewart. We are on our 3rd set in 4 years, but haven't bust a blade yet !
 
I would add gooseneck to the list of fittings to beef up. We are on our second boom, and 3rd gooseneck in 4 years !

Does anyone know the best way to replace the u bolt on the bow. I took a bit of a hit at the worlds and need it replacing!

Beste SB3 teams,

Ik (31 jaar en man) zoek nog een SB3 om op te bemannen tijdens de winterserie en volgend zeilseizoen. Meest relevante ervaring de laatste 6 jaar:

- 3 jaar op J22: genua/spi trim en voordek (alles wat los en vast zat gevaren; EK's, NK's en WK's)
- 3 jaar X35: voordekker

Nu opzoek naar een kleinere planerende boot, met een leuk team waar fun en hard varen hand in hand gaan.

Moving the yellow bit only adjusts the ease of opening. Should have no effect on "holding" the halyard.
Donie, I also knot the halyard every time, even though I put on a new spinlock over the winter.
Think a cam cleat is the only way to go. (Or a VO70 style halyard lock!!)

Tdarcy...Come on down...The price is right...As Doug says we are driving up from Essex and we will be staying with John O overnight (to get us aclimatised)...Some great prizes are being given by Marineaglaze and it sounds like it will be a great event...

I replaced both the Spinnaker and Jib halyard Spinlock a couple of weeks before the Nationals. I also replaced the Jib halyard. The new YELLOW Spinlock with the yellow bit pushed to the left hand side of the jammer, works really well.
I think we have to remember that the halyards on these boats are under quite a bit of pressure and replacing them as and when is part of normal boat "maintenance"...It is not a "failure" of equipment it has just been used and needs replacing....
