Very positive informal response from with in Howth YC.
If it was felt to be desirable we would look to co-ordinate with the Royal Cork (already had an informal chat there too) to make it easy to do a 2014 Europeans here the Sat-Tues, take the rest of the week to shuttle the boats to Cork and get some R&R and then Cork Week. 2 weeks off work for 9 days of awesome sailing over 2 events which would be different in character.
Not had chance to talk to them yet but I'm sure a DL club would go for putting the Easterns or a regatta on the weekend before as a warm up event.
All the venues mentioned are well served by airports so shuttling back and forward and the new motorway now means it's around a 2.5hr drive door to door from Dublin to Cork.
All the talk of nice venues to travel to and 'been there' is good and so, especially, is fleet building in new countries. but equally at some point the established fleets need to be looked after and encouraged as well so that their club fleets stay strong. We've all seen what happens when a fleet becomes solely about traveling. Having a Worlds in Torquay is brilliant on that score.
